A couple Americans had days they will never forget over the weekend.

It’s Winter Break in several leagues throughout the world including the Bundesliga. So many of our Yanks Abroad were taking it easy this weekend. And unfortunately the list shrunk with the reports about Jonathan Gonzalez. However, we’ve got some new names to follow and the likes of Eric Lichaj & Shaquell Moore gave us plenty to like over the weekend. Danny Williams even got himself in on the action!

The highs & lows from the Yanks Abroad:

Eric Lichaj
In a match the 29 year old will never forget as long as he lives, Lichaj scored two goals and Nottingham Forest took down Premier League giant Arsenal by a final of 4-2. Eric also did very well on the defensive half as he went toe-to-toe with with some world class talent. The look on his coach’s face after the second goal says it all - “I have no clue how that happened, but I like it.” You have to love seeing an American take the glory on the day, but don’t expect to see golazos like this week in and week out.

1st goal:

GOLAZO:

Danny Williams
The Huddersfield Town midfielder scored what proved to be the winner in the 52’ min as they knocked out the Bolton Wanderers by a final of 2-1. It was his first in a Huddersfield shirt.

Aaron Schoenfeld
The 27 year old is playing in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv under head coach Jordi Cruyff (son of Johan Cruyff). Schoenfeld played all 90 and scored a goal in the 80’ min of a 3-0 win. The win saw them advance to the Round of 16 in the Israel State Cup.

Shaq Moore
The young right-back was given the start for Levante against Barcelona in La Liga action over the weekend. It was asking a lot but the kid played well enough. FotMob’s player rating algorithm (grain of salt) gave Moore a score of 6.9 - the highest on the backline & 2nd highest on the team. Lionel Messi went passed him without a thought on Barcelona’s third goal, but being embarrassed by the GOAT is right of passage for La Liga defenders. He truly has arrived now!

Chance on goal:

Maki Tall
22 year old Maki Tall plays in Ligue 2 for Tours, who sit in dead last at the moment. But they advanced to the Round of 16 in the Coupe de France on Saturday in a wild match that saw 3 red cards. Tall took Man of the Match honors with both goals of the 2-1 win.

Both goals:

Emerson Hyndman
He got the start and went the distance for Bournemouth’s 2-2 FA Cup draw with Wigan Athletic, but Hyndman was on the hook for an own goal in the 29th minute. This was the 21 year old’s first appearance since a 4 min showing back in September.

Cameron Carter-Vickers
CCV played all 90 for Sheffield United as part of a 3-man backline. He picked up a yellow card in the 90’ min but survived with a 1-0 shutout of Ipswich Town to advance in the FA Cup.

Antonee Robinson
He got an FA Cup start and played all 90 mins for Bolton (on loan from Everton) as they fell to Danny Williams and Huddersfield.

William Yarbrough
Leon started the season with a 2-1 win over Atlas with Yarbrough in goal.

Keaton Parks
Parks got on the pitch again for Benfica in a 2-0 win over Morierense. He came on in the 46’ min for a rare appearance these days.

Joe Corona
The 2018 Clausura has already kicked off and Corona went the full 90 for Club America as they took down Queretaro 1-0.
