It looks like Christian Pulisic will not be on the field next week for the United States Men’s National Team. According to an ESPN report, Pulisic will miss the USMNT’s upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Peru due to a calf injury he sustained this week.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder was ruled out of Dortmund’s 3-0 Champions League victory against AS Monaco yesterday and will not feature in Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Augsburg. Early reports indicated he will be out for 2-3 weeks.
Pulisic has not played for the USMNT since a May 3-0 friendly win against Bolivia. Towards the beginning of this European season, he missed two club games, as well as the USMNT’s September friendlies against Mexico and Brazil, due to muscular problems. Pulisic has been in good form with Dortmund with two goals, one of which was a game-winner in a Champions League match against Club Brugge, and an assist in his last four matches. Dortmund currently sit atop the Bundesliga table and are undefeated in all competitions.
The USMNT takes on Colombia on October 11th in Tampa and then travel to Hartford to face Peru on October 16th. They’ll have to do both without their #10 roaming the midfield.
