United States Men’s National Team coach Gregg Berhalter has added New York City FC right-winger Jonathan Lewis to the 2019 January Camp Roster. The addition of Lewis brings the camp roster total to 28.
The dynamic 21-year-old will provide a much needed option on the wing, as Paul Arriola is the only other natural winger on the roster. Lewis had a promising rookie season, scoring 2 goals and adding 1 assist in 11 MLS matches. He primarily came off of the bench, playing a total of 342 minutes.
Lewis had a difficult 2018, making 15 MLS appearances but only playing 232 minutes. He scored 1 goal and added 3 assists, but spent 5 games on loan in the USL with Louisville City.
Lewis has yet to be capped for the senior national team, but has been involved with the U-20 side since 2016. He made 3 appearances at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, scoring 1 goal and adding 1 assist.
January Camp begins on January 6th at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, California. The camp culminates with matches against Panama on January 27th and Costa Rica on February 2nd.
