The majority of the Americans playing abroad were not in action this past week, but it was a busy holiday for those over in the UK.

Most of the players in the United States National Team pool were on winter break this past week, but we’ve got action in England and Australia to catch up on today. It was a busy week for the lads in the UK with two matches in three days over the holiday.

Let’s just jump into a very short Yanks Abroad update:

England

DeAndre Yedlin
He was on the field for all 90 minutes as Newcastle were destroyed by Liverpool on Boxing Day by a final of 4-0. Yedlin was part of a 5-man back line that clearly didn’t help against the Premier League’s top team. Then on Saturday he played 90 minutes at Watford in a 1-1 draw. Finishing with 70% passing, he was credited with one key pass and contributed with six recoveries, two interceptions, two clearances, and a yellow card for dragging his man down. Yedlin led all players with four tackles on the day.

Tim Ream
The Fulham centerback played 90 minutes on Boxing Day in a 1-1 draw at home against Wolverhampton. He had just 25 touches on the ball (fewest of anyone to play 90) but completed 15 out of 20 passes and had 3 clearances. Ream also went the distance over the weekend in a 1-0 shutout of Huddersfield Town, completing 87% of his passes. This completed a 7-day span in which he played every minute of three matches.

Cameron Carter-Vickers
CCV also had a double-game week and put in two full shifts. He was part of a 1-0 loss at home to Aston-Villa on Boxing Day where he completed the most passes of any player in the match (69 out of 72 attempted). He followed that up with 90 minutes against Wigan Athletic in a 2-2 draw in which he completed 91% of his passes. He also added ten clearances, two interceptions, and two recoveries.

Eric Lichaj
Lichaj had carved out an important role for Hull City before injuring his calf. He’s only seen a few short appearances in the month of December. But over the weekend he was able to come back on the pitch for the final 16 minutes as Hull defeated Leeds United 2-0. He came into the match to win two tackles and complet one of two passes.

Lynden Gooch
Gooch picked up a yellow card in an 84 minute performance on Boxing Day in Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Bradford City. On Saturday he played 67 minutes in a 1-1 draw vs Shrewsbury Town at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland still have two games in hand and they are in a good position to make a run at winning the League One title.

Scotland

Emerson Hyndman
The Bournemouth loanee appeared in two matches last week for Hibernian. He went the first 66 minutes on Boxing Day as they drew with the Rangers 1-1. Then on Saturday he came off the bench in the 62 minute as Hibernian lost to Hearts 1-0.

Australia

Rachel Hill
On loan from the Orlando Pride, Hill scored her 4th goal of the season (she’s got four assists as well) in the 90th minute, but it wasn’t enough as the Perth Glory were defeated 2-1 by Melbourne.

Veronica Latsko
Latsko is on loan from the Houston Dash with Adelaide United and she picked up a goal and an assist. She assisted one goal in stoppage time, then scored the winner to complete the 3-2 comeback win at the death.
