Another American in the Bundesliga?

It appears as if another American is set to call the Bundesliga their permanent home. FC Dallas academy star Chris Richards has spent the last six months on loan with Bayern Munich and has apparently impressed enough to earn a transfer.

According to Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep, Bayern and FC Dallas are close to completing a deal that would see the 19-year-old defender make a permanent switch to Germany. The report states that the German giants would pay a transfer fee of around $1.25 million.

Richards played for Bayern’s first team during their preseason tour and has made several appearances for their U-19 team this season. He played a role in the U.S. U-20’s Concacaf Championship victory last month and appears to be one of the highest rated players in his class.

It speaks volumes that a club like Bayern Munich thinks enough of an American teenager with no professional experience to spend over a million dollars to secure his rights. We look forward to seeing how Richards develops over the next few seasons.
