USA men will play Paraguay in March

The United States men’s national team will play Paraguay at Sahlen’s Stadium in Cary, NC on March 27.

This match will help fill out the calendar before the USMNT play Ireland on June 2 and France on June 9. They should have the opportunity to call in some young, interesting rosters to play against teams like Ireland and Paraguay who also missed out on the World Cup in Russia.

According to Steven Goff at the Washington Post, USSF wanted to play two friendlies in the March 19-27 window, but was limited in their options due to their failure to qualify. USSF also wanted a Saturday game, but the weekend of March 24-25 is NWSL opening weekend, and Sahlen’s is the home of the North Carolina Courage.

Don’t expect a new head coach by March; there’s really no rush for USSF to figure it out right away, leaving interim HC Dave Sarachan still in charge against Paraguay.
