U.S. Soccer presidential election: What’s your issue?

What’s the number one issue facing the candidates in this election? We ask you, the fans.

The United States Soccer Federation presidential election will occur this Saturday at the Federation’s Annual General Meeting in Orlando. When the representatives from the various councils gather to cast their vote for a new president, there will be many issues at the forefront of their minds as the reason why they are casting a ballot for a particular candidate.

So many issues have been prominently featured in this year’s election: youth development, venue selection, ticket prices, promotion/relegation, fixing the Men’s National Team, equal pay for the women, turf vs. grass, keeping the Women’s National Team strong, coaching education, accessibility, scouting in urban/underserved communities, and Pay to Play have been some of the issues that have driven this election.

Fans naturally have their issue that they think is the most important or is one that they think should get more airtime from the candidates. And as Paul Caligiuri, Kathy Carter, Carlos Cordeiro, Steve Gans, Kyle Martino, Hope Solo, Michael Winograd, and Eric Wynalda enter their last few days of campaigning before the election, they will encounter dozens of questions about how they will fix the issues of importance to those who have the opportunity to cast a ballot.

So, what’s your issue? What’s your number one issue of importance for this election? What do you think the candidates should be focused on, and have they been doing that? Now’s the chance for you to have your say! Vote in the poll and then hit the comments to explain your answer. We will recap the answers of the community on Friday morning.
