U.S. Soccer presidential election: Stars and Stripes FC community straw poll

You have a voice, so use it!

Source: U.S. Soccer

The United States Soccer Federation will gather at their Annual General Meeting this weekend, where on Saturday they will elect a new president to succeed outgoing president Sunil Gulati. Eight candidates are campaigning for the position, and it has been an election that has drawn heavy interest from all corners of American soccer.

The vote is broken down by the various councils: Youth Council, Adult Council, Professional Council, and the Athletes Council. There are also miscellaneous votes that can be earned by the candidates as well. Soccer America’s Paul Kennedy has a great breakdown of the vote and who is represented in each area.

Short of the 2 representatives from U.S. Soccer’s Fan Council that will be able to cast a ballot on Saturday, no fans will be able to vote in the U.S. Soccer presidential election. So, we decided to create a way for you to exercise your voice. We are conducting a straw poll for the Stars and Stripes FC community. Cast your vote anytime before Thursday, February 8th at 10:00pm ET. We will recap the results on Friday morning. Stars and Stripes FC will not be making an official endorsement or declaration of support for any candidate in this race, so we want our community’s vote to stand for itself.

If you want to know more about the candidates, the American Outlaws have an election website complete with their live forums they have conducted with candidates and other information the candidates have provided. You may not have a vote at the AGM, but you now have a place to make your voice heard! Hit the comments and let us know why you decided on a particular candidate, but now the question of the year:
