The United States men’s national team picked up their first win since that devastating night in Trinidad and Tobago in October. A young and hungry side prevailed over Paraguay, 1-0, thanks to a Bobby Wood penalty late in the first half.
It wasn’t the greatest of team performances, but individually we saw several young players show promise for the future.
Man of the Match: Tyler Adams
One of those promising youngsters won the penalty that ultimately decided the game. Tyler Adams latched onto a brilliant throughball by Marky Delgado and dribbled around the Paraguayan goalkeeper only to be tripped up. It was one of a few bright moments for the 19-year-old midfielder.
While it was enough to earn him MOTM from our community, it wasn’t a a perfect performance as he had a few uncharacteristically bad touches in the first half before settling down in the second. Nevertheless, it’s clear to see why the Red Bulls teenager is so highly rated.
