The Yanks Abroad had an incredibly underwhelming return to club football over the weekend. Golden Boy Pulisic was thrashed with Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker, but Lynden Gooch does give us one highlight to look at in the English Championship.
The highs and lows from the past week:
Christian Pulisic
He was in the starting lineup as Dortmund were absolutely destroyed in Der Klassiker by Bayern Munich on Saturday by a final of 6-0. BvB now sit four points behind Schalke for 2nd place.
DeAndre Yedlin
Yedlin went 90 minutes for Newcastle who beat Huddersfield Town 1-0. He had a pretty solid night contributing to the shutout and he also was credited with 2 key passes on the other end.
Lynden Gooch
Gooch got a start on the right wing for Sunderland on Friday and he definitely did well with the opportunity. Just after halftime he ran at a defender, nutmegging him, and winning a penalty that would double to lead over Derby County. The matched ended 4-1. VIDEO LINK
Heather O’Reilly
She entered the game for Arsenal at the 72’ minute mark and finished out a 1-1 draw with the Chelsea Ladies.
Matt Miazga
The center-back went the distance for Vitesse in a shutout of Roda JC Kerkrade. Vitesse are in 7th place in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Andrija Novakovich
Fresh off his US National Team debut, he went 90 minutes in the Dutch 2nd division. Telstar drew with Oss in a 0-0 final score.
Kenny Saief
The Anderlecht man (on loan from Gent) went 90 minutes in the midfield as they lost 2-0 to the same Gent he is loaned from.
Aron Johannsson
Came off the bench in the 75’ min to complete 7/9 passes, win a couple tackles, and get dispossessed once.
Timmy Chandler
Chandler was subbed out in the 65’ min after a really quiet appearance. His Eintracht Frankfurt side lost 2-1 at Werder Bremen. Frankfurt are in 6th place, but just one point out of 4th, the final automatic UCL spot.
Tim Ream
Fulham continued their great run of form on Friday with a 2-0 shutout at Norwich City. Ream finished the day with 90% passing, playing the long ball really well. Fulham are in 3rd place and 7 points out of automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
He was part of, what looked like, a five man back line for Ipswich Town who were defeated by Birmingham City 1-0. CCV went all 90 minutes with 5 accurate long balls and 10 clearances.
Julian Green
He started the match and went 89 minutes for Greuther Fuerth in a 2-1 win over Union Berlin.
Alfredo Morales
Came on in the 72’ minute for Ingolstadt in a 2-1 win at Heidenheim in the 2. Bundesliga.
Erik Palmer-Brown
The Manchester City loanee came on for the final 9 minutes for Kortrijk in a 4-1 win over Waasland-Beveren in Belgium.
Jorge Villafaña
The Santos man went all 90 minutes of a 3-2 defeat at Atlas.
Landon Donovan
In his longest appearance yet, Donovan went 61 minutes for Leon, who were defeated 4-1.
