US Soccer announced Monday that the US women’s national team will play two friendlies against Chile on August 31 at StubHub Center in Carson and on September 4 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose.

The United States women have never played Chile before. These two games will take place a little over a month before Concacaf qualifying for the 2019 World Cup. Chile has already qualified for the WC.

These games fall in a FIFA window and should theoretically not clash too much with most of NWSL, which enters a break August 25 and resumes play September 7. Washington and Sky Blue have a game scheduled in the window, which may result in a repeat of their June 8 no-internationals match, a grim 0-0 affair (to be fair, there was also quite an injury list for that game as well). Otherwise we can hope for everyone to return to their clubs healthy, particularly with NWSL semifinals scheduled for the weekend after, September 14-16.
