The return of viewing options abroad, but at home

The return of European football, albeit in its pre-season, games are actually being played in North America sense, as well as Liga MX action starting up means there is a large selection of games this weekend for your viewing pleasure. With the large number of games and some other influencing factors we’re trying a slightly different format this week.

Friday

Manchester City v Borussia Dortmund - 9:05p on ESPN2

Get your weekend started right on Friday night by watching the International Champions Cup kickoff!!! Umm, they gave it a fancy name but it’s still preseason play right? Borussia Dortmund takes on Manchester City in Chicago on Friday night, the first of two games this weekend in which it seems likely Christian Pulisic will start and play 45 minutes. We’re of the opinion that there’s not much to these games but the Bundesliga has done a fantastic job of promoting it’s league to the American audience and it’s a pretty safe bet that Pulisic will be featured for the home crowd.

Saturday

Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain - 10:05a on ESPN2

Saturday morning starts up with future Best American Ever possibly picking up some preseason minutes as PSG kick-off their International Champions Cup campaign against Bayern Munich. This game won’t be on American soil so there’s no guarantee that Timothy Weah will be featured in the game but you can probably expect heavy rotation and a number of players to see time which would seem to bode well for a player who was seeing the match day 18 on occasion at the end of the season.

Benfica v Sevilla - 12:05p on ESPN3

Keaton Parks was shuffled back and forth between Befica’s primary squad and their B squad last season making 29 appearances with the B squad and another four appearances with their top tier squad. Parks will be looking to see more time in the top tier this season and a solid preseason effort could go a long way towards making that happen. Parks could also face off against Christian Pulisic mid-week as BVB and Benfica are scheduled to play an International Champions Cup match on the 25th.

Other potential games of interest:

Atlanta United (Brad Guzan, Michael Parkhurst) v DC United (Chris Durkin, ) - 3:30p on Univision

Tigres v Leon (William Yarbrough) - 10p on Univision

Tijuana (Rubio Rubin) v Guadalajara - 10p on FS1

Sunday

Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund - 4:05p on ESPN

Borussia Dortmund’s second game in three days will be see them take on Liverpool, one of the clubs that seems to come up most often in unsubstantiated, and strongly denied Christian Pulisic transfer rumors. Unless he sees more time then expected on Friday it’s probably a good bet again that Pulisic will start and play 45 on Sunday as well.

Other potential games of interest:

Santos Laguna (Jorge Villafana) v Lobos BUAP - 7p on Univision

Necaxa (Ventura Alvarado) v America (Joe Corona) - 10p on Univision
