Antonee Robinson reportedly set for loan to Wigan Athletic

Another year, another loan

After battling back from a serious injury and finding a role with Bolton Wanderers last season, Antonee Robinson seemed like he might have a chance to break through with the Everton first team leading into this season. Alas, that does not seem to be the case. Brian Sciaretta is reporting that Robinson is set for a season long loan to Wigan Athletic:

With Leighton Baines getting on in age, it looked like the 20 year-old American could be a good fit for new manager Marco Silva. He seemed to see things differently and rather than turn to the young player, Silva brought in left back Lucas Digne on an £18 million transfer from Barcelona. With the depth chart getting crowded at the position, Robinson will have a chance at more consistent playing time with Wigan.

USMNT fans may still see Robinson as he impressed in his recent performance against France for the Stars and Stripes. He will get another chance at showing he has what it takes to be the regular starter for the USA next month if he is called in for the friendlies against Brazil and Mexico.
