With the news that Christian Pulisic’s injury will keep him out of Friday’s game the weekend slate isn’t quite as strong as it could be but there’s still a pretty good selection of games this weekend including Bundesliga and Premier League action likely to feature USMNT players.
Friday
Hannover 96 v Borussia Dortmund - 2:30p on FS1
The aforementioned injury to Christian Pulisic kept him from traveling with the team for their meeting with Hannover on Friday but there’s still a possibility an American will take the field as Bobby Wood returns from suspension and will be eligible for the team. We’ve yet to see what role Bobby will be used in with his new team though it seems likely to be a bench role at least to start the season. Hannover scored one goal without Bobby last week in their 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen.
Saturday
Bayer Leverkusen v Wolfsburg - 9:30a on FS1
John Anthony Brooks and Wolfsburg got off to a fine start last weekend defeating 10-man Shalke with Brooks scoring his first goal in a Wolfsburg jersey.

Unfortunately Brooks undid that work a bit late in the game giving up a penalty on a high boot that also drew a yellow card.
This weekend Wolfsburg will take on a Bayer Leverkusen team that was handed a 0-2 loss by Fabian Johnson’s Borussia Monchengladbach team last weekend with Johnson also scoring a goal.
Manchester City v Newcastle - 12:30p on NBC
DeAndre Yedlin made a speedy return from injury last weekend after missing just one week with what initially appeared to be a frightening knee injury. Yedlin went 90 minutes in his return delivering an assist (and a forearm shiver) in what seemed like it might be a great draw with Chelsea until he unfortunately also scored a goal for Chelsea, redirecting a nice cross into the back of the net. The task doesn’t get any easier for Yedlin and Newcaslte this weekend as they’ll take on last years run away league winners Manchester City.
Seattle Sounders v Sporting Kansas City - 4p on UniMas and Twitter

Quick hits on other potential games of interest:
Tigres UANL v Atlas - 8p on Univision - Somehow Atlas still haven’t won a game or scored a goal in seven tries in league play. Put in Omar at striker!
Sunday
Schalke 04 v Hertha Berlin - 12p on FS1
Weston McKennie started Schalke’s opener and went the full 90 as the team was beaten by Wolfsburg last weekend. McKennie put in some solid work and covered a lot of ground as his team went down to 10 men in the 65th minute. Schalke were nearly able to manage a draw but a last gasp goal in the 94th minute as McKennie looked on did them in.
Quick hits on other potential games of interest:
Lobos BUAP v America - 5p on Univision Deportes - Michael Orozco and Joe Corona look to make appearances for two teams headed in opposite directions.
D.C. United v Atlanta United - 7:30p on FS1 - Russel Canouse, Bill Hamid and Paul Arriola take on Michael Parkhurst and Brad Guzan.
