It’s winter break around much of Europe but we had some action in England and Germany to report from the last week. Yedlin and Ream are fighting relegation battles in the Premier League while Tyler Adams made his first appearance for his new team in Germany.
DeAndre Yedlin
Newcastle took a trip to fourth place Chelsea on Saturday and Yedlin had his hands full. He did have a couple of crosses that were wasted but it wasn’t a very good day overall. He gave Willian far too much space on the eventual winning goal (although it was still a fantastic finish). He was taken off in the 82nd minute after completing 63% of his passes with two chances created. He also had three clearances and two interceptions on the other end. The Magpies find themselves in the relegation zone, a point behind Cardiff from safety.
Tim Ream
Starting on the left side of a three-man back line, Ream played all 90 minutes as Fulham lost yet again by 2-1 at Burnley. They have managed to win just one match in their last ten, and they’re four points behind Newcastle in 19th place. Head Coach Ranieri says the club is ready to spend more money this month to stay in the top flight.
Lynden Gooch
Gooch played the first 72 minutes of Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town. They’re in a good spot to win promotion to the 2nd tier sitting in 3rd place with a game in hand on the leaders.
Tyler Adams
It was a friendly match, but Adams did get on the field for RB Leipzig against Galatasaray. The Youth Update has more on Adams.
