The United States Men’s National Team will be without another forward this week. Jozy Altidore, who had to leave Toronto FC’s match on Sunday afternoon against Columbus Crew SC due to injury, will not be fit enough to play and has withdrawn from the USMNT ahead of matches Friday against Cuba in Washington, DC and Tuesday in Toronto against Canada.
USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter opted not to replace Altidore on the roster, so the roster stands at 25 players as the team prepares for its debut in the CONCACAF Nations League. Yesterday, Miles Robinson was named as an injury replacement for Walker Zimmerman. Berhalter has decided in Altidore’s case to go with the current group of forwards that he has in camp.
The updated USMNT roster:
DEFENDERS (8): Reggie Cannon (FC Dallas), Nick Lima (San Jose Earthquakes), Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls), Daniel Lovitz (Montreal Impact), Matt Miazga (Reading FC), Tim Ream (Fulham), Miles Robinson (Atlanta United); DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle)
MIDFIELDERS (8): Brenden Aaronson (Philadelphia Union), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Sebastian Lletget (LA Galaxy), Weston McKennie (Schalke 04), Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC), Jackson Yueill (San Jose Earthquakes)
