Texas and LA in winter.

Portugal v United States - USWNT Victory Tour

Updated to add the full schedule

The venues and groups for Concacaf Olympic qualifying are now set for the United States women’s national team.

The United States has been drawn into Group A, with Costa Rica, Panama, and Haiti.

Group A will play in Houston at BBVA Compass Stadium on January 28, 31, and February 3. The top two finishers from each group will then move on the semifinals and finals in Los Angeles. Full groups, dates, and venues below:

Group A: United States, Costa Rica, Haiti, Panama

Venue: BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston, TX

Dates: January 28, January 31, February 3

Group B: Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis

Venue: HEB Park, Edinburg, TX

Dates: January 29, February 1, February 4

Final 4: TBD

Venue: Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, CA

Semifinals: February 7

Final: February 9

Predicting the top two out of each group, it’s likely we’ll see the United States, Costa Rica, Canada, and Mexico at the semifinals. However, and that is a big however, Haiti and Jamaica are teams who could make it very interesting competing for that #2 spot in each group.

Within group A, the most exciting game for the US is likely to be against Costa Rica, who have shown signs that they can hang in a fairly competitive tier of countries, but have struggled to consistently stay in that tier. However, the most exciting game of group overall may be Costa Rica and Panama. You might recall that just a year ago, 17-year-old Panamanian goalkeeper Yenith Bailey stole everyone’s hearts as she came up with some bonkers saves despite only being converted to the position for a year.

So despite the likelihood of the United States doing their usual “very sorry but we will be scoring upwards of five, possibly more, goals on you” routine with the smaller teams of Concacaf, there will definitely be fun games to watch and young players to spotlight.

This will be Vlatko Andonovksi’s first USWNT games under tournament conditions, but as tournaments go, it’s probably as nice a way to ease into things as he’ll ever get.
