Just as it seemed like the US player pool abroad was getting healthy as Tyler Adams returned, another American is set to be sidelined. The Bundesliga English language site is reporting that Josh Sargent suffered a tear in a small muscle during Werder Bremen’s recent match against Wolfsburg.
The striker had been dealing with pain for a few weeks, but during the match the tear revealed itself according to the club’s manager. Sargent is set to return in the New Year, but will miss four matches going into the winter break.
MLSSoccer.com notes that the injury occurred during the team’s win over Cuba in November and is in his hamstring. At just 19, Sargent is showing he is living up to some of the early expectations about him. He’s starting regularly with Bremen and has two goals and two assists in 11 appearances this season to go with his three goals in six USMNT matches.
