The United States men’s under-20 national team learned their group stage opponents for this summer’s World Cup on Sunday. The Concacaf Champions were granted a place in Pot A and were drawn against Nigeria, Ukraine and Qatar.
It’s always hard to judge how tough a U-20 group is on the surface just because it’s nearly impossible to know how good each country’s young players are. Their U-20 teams aren’t always a direct reflection of the talent levels of their senior national teams.
What we do know is that the USA have a very talented group eager to make their presence known on the world stage.
This year’s tournament will be held in Poland and take place from May 23 through June 15.
The U.S. will kick off their first match against Ukraine on May 24. Their second match will be against Nigeria on May 27. And their final group match will be played against Qatar on May 30.
