Fresh off of winning the LigaMX Apertura while on loan with Club America, Joe Corona may be on the move once again. The USMNT midfielder is reported to be close to signing with the LA Galaxy according to Doug McIntyre of Yahoo Sports. After his loan ended, Corona missed most of Club Tijuana’s first half of the Clausura due to injury and has only appeared in three matches for the team in 2019.
The move would come as the Galaxy have an opening for a midfielder following the contract buyout of Giovani dos Santos. It would also come as the USMNT is building toward the 2019 Gold Cup this summer. Corona has had promising showings for the Stars and Stripes, but has never been a central figure on the roster. His quiet but steady play may be useful to Gregg Berhalter as the new USMNT manager tries to install his more possession based style with the team.
Plus that, how many Americans have scored a goal of the year?
