Borussia Dortmund has stated that Christian Pulisic has returned to training, fifteen days after suffering a thigh injury in the United States Men’s National Team 1-1 friendly draw against Chile on March 26.
The 20-year-old right-winger signed for Chelsea in January (and was subsequently loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season), but since then he has been in a tough battle for playing time against 19-year-old English international Jadon Sancho.
Pulisic has notched 5 goals and 5 assists in 25 appearances (1,400 total minutes) this season. While Dortmund is in contention for the Bundesliga title, the team’s most recent match ended in a devastating 5-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
With the victory, Bayern replaced Dortmund at the top of the table. However, the Bavarian side only sits one point above 2nd-placed BVB.
Pulisic’s return to health follows that of Weston McKennie, who started individual training last week with Schalke 04. According to Schalke, McKennie had suffered a “ruptured ankle ligament” during the USMNT’s 1-0 friendly against Ecuador on March 21.
