The United States Women’s National Team have 90 minutes between them and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. One more match for the defending champions to prepare themselves for a run at a repeat. One more chance for Jill Ellis to decide on her best lineup and fine tune the tactics.
The U.S. has had very little in the way of trouble in their first two warm-up matches, beating South Africa and New Zealand by a combined scoreline of 8-0. Sam Mewis has three goals in the two matches and looks to be the in-form American heading to France. Not to be outdone, veteran Carli Lloyd notched a brace of her own last weekend.
The result against Mexico isn’t the concern, the peripherals and making sure everything is in order before the World Cup is what’s in focus. Let’s see how the team looks in these last 90 minutes of preparations.
