The United States is a point away from topping Group F. All they need is a draw against Sweden to take that top spot and earn a more favorable Round of 16 match-up. This is mainly due to the now infamous 13-0 result against Thailand that has guaranteed the U.S. will win any tiebreaker.

This is a revenge match of sorts for Jill Ellis’ side. Sweden shocked the Americans in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Olympics. While both teams are guaranteed a spot in the knockout rounds, finishing top of the group certainly has its benefits.

Trying to guess Ellis’ lineup at this point would be a fool’s errand. The depth of this squad is insane and the coach isn’t afraid to flex it. Not often (if ever?) do you see a team rest players in only their second group match.

It’s safe to say that Chile and Thailand weren’t much competition for the champs. All that’s about to change. The World Cup really starts now.

United States lineup:

TBA
