Day 17 rolls on! Knockout rounds continue today with England taking on Cameroon and France facing Brazil. Here are some things to watch out for today.
First match of the day is England vs Cameroon. In the battle of lionesses, England enters the match as favorites having won their group with 3 wins. England coming in on more rest, and with more depth, will likely make things difficult for Cameroon. Cameroon has shown they can play from behind should they go down early, but will they have the legs to do it in another match?
Second match of the day features two storied clubs with France taking on Brazil. Knockout rounds bring more pressure, and it will be the first test for France to play within a match that has bigger expectations. Can they beat the pressure in this tournament? Brazil has been able to put together performances in their group despite missing and limiting minutes for some of their star players. Will Marta dazzle us on the biggest international stage once again?
Winners of today’s matches will advance into the quarterfinals.
