Match day 3 of the World Cup is upon us!
The entirety of Group C gets their start in the tournament with Group D getting two of their teams off and running. Lots of familiarity with some of these players today for those who are viewers of NWSL throughout the year, here are a few things to look out for today.
First match of the day features Australia taking on Italy. Sam Kerr, one of the world’s best, is looking to score her first World Cup goal. Italy could set a tone during this match by coming away with a result against the top ranked team in the group.
Second match of the day has Brazil taking on Jamaica. The Brazilians have been bit with a bit of an injury bug lately replacing two of their defenders recently, and announcing that their most prolific player - Marta - will sit out this opening match due to thigh injury she is still working though. Could Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz pull off an update today?
Final game of the day had Group D kicking off with England taking on Scotland. One of the best right back’s in the game, Lucy Bronze, will try and help kickstart the Lionesses offense featuring Nikita Paris on the wing. Scotland comes into this tournament with one of the best players we've been hoping to see in a World Cup - Kim Little.
