Two more wins. That’s all that stands between the United States and back-to-back World Cup titles. A date with England in the semifinals is upon us. After knocking the hosts and co-favorites France out of the tournament, the U.S. can taste their fourth World Cup triumph.
It won’t be easy, however. England are in just as good of form as the Americans are and will be hungry to finally take that last step to becoming a world power. The Three Lionesses’ confidence will be high after drawing 2-2 with the USA in March and capturing the SheBelieves Cup on U.S. soil.
For Jill Ellis’ side the task is simple. Continue to win no matter the style or conditions. It doesn’t matter if you dominate or scrape by just as long as you’re the last team standing in the end. Both France and Spain gave the U.S. cause for concern. Will England be able to go a step further and knock the giants off or will the USWNT come out on top once again? Buckle up.
