The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinals begin tonight in suburban Phoenix, and we have a matchup that many thought would be a quarterfinal instead of the lone semifinal on the night. Mexico has been the favorites of the tournament the entire time, but they looked shaky for the first time against Costa Rica Saturday night. Still, many believe the road to a Gold Cup title goes through them, and they’re hoping to show that again tonight. In their way stands Haiti, surprise winners over Canada in the quarterfinals and a team that has some guys willing to do what it takes to win. They have heart and don’t quit, and no lead is safe when they’re playing at their top level. Who will book the first plane ticket to Chicago and the Gold Cup final?
