The Women’s World Cup is beginning to draw to a close, and the final weekend begins with the 3rd place match tomorrow in Nice between England and Sweden. For both teams, they wish they were playing in the final that will be in Lyon Sunday. However, thanks to England’s loss to the United States on Tuesday and Sweden’s loss to the Netherlands on Wednesday, the two teams will have to settle for competing for 3rd place.

England was in this position 4 years ago, winning the 3rd place match against Germany. They will look to make it back-to-back 3rd place finishes in the world, which is a remarkable feat for any program. Sweden was the 3rd place finisher in the 2011 World Cup, beating France in that match. Despite what could have been, both teams will look to try and finish on a high note. Who will bring it together to get one more win in France?
