Concacaf has announced the dates and location of the 2020 Men’s Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament according to MLSSoccer.com. The event will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico from March 20-April 1, 2020. Eight teams will face off against each other to determine who will represent the region in Tokyo next summer.

Mexico, Canada, USA, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Honduras have all qualified for the games while two nations from the Caribbean will be drawn from Barbados, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Saint Kitts. The matches will be held at Estadio Jalisco, home of Atlas, Leones Negros, and CAFESSA Jalisco and Estadio Akron where Chivas (of Guadalajara, not USA) plays.

As is well known, the US has not qualified for the Olympic tournament since going to the 2008 games in Beijing. The team drew and lost its most recent matches last March under new manager Jason Kreis. Should the team qualify, it would have its first chance at winning a medal in men’s soccer since 1904 when the USA managed to win both the silver and bronze medals according to Wikipedia.
