Christian Pulisic has a brand new club this season with new teammates and new surroundings. One thing that won’t be new is the number on the back of his shirt.
Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that Pulisic will don the same No. 22 that he wore during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
There was speculation that he could be handed the famous No. 10 shirt vacated by Eden Hazard. That honor has been given to the previous owner of Pulisic’s No.22, Willian.

It’s obviously a minuscule talking point of a player’s career, but I’m happy that Pulisic wasn’t given the No. 10 straight away. He doesn’t need the added pressure of having that spotlight on him. Hopefully after a few good years he’ll have earned the number on merit after Willian moves on.
For now, if you’re in the market for a new Pulisic Chelsea kit to go alongside your USMNT or USWNT collection, No. 22 will be on the back.
