Tim Weah has found the back of the net for his new club a week before the domestic season begins. The U.S. international scored Lille’s opener in their preseason friendly against Roma on Saturday to open his account for the Ligue 1 side.

Weah makes the play with the initial pass through to his teammate Jonathan Bamba. The ensuing shot is saved into the path of the American who is there for the easy finish.
There’s nothing amazing about the goal itself, but what is exciting is that he’s finally found a permanent home at a good club. Not only that, he appears to have a great chance at tons of minutes this season. That’s cause for great optimism.
With the USMNT’s forward situation wide open, the opportunity is there for him to grasp a starting job sometime in the near future. Now it’s up to him to put up some good performances once the league opens play next weekend. Lille host Nantes next Sunday in their opener.
