Yanks Abroad: Mallory Weber nets a brace

The ladies led the way with three goals this past week.

While several of our United Sates National Team members were part of ugly losses and rough performances, there were a few positives mixed in as well. Mallory Weber gave her team the win in Australia with a brace. Plus DeAndre Yedlin & Weston McKennie were back on the pitch. But then we have Tim Ream who was sent off after just six minutes.

Let’s check in on the Yanks Abroad:

Australia

Mallory Weber

On her loan from the Utah Royals, Weber recorded a first half brace for Adelaide in a 3-2 win over Western Sydney. She got one in the 39th and then another just before the halftime whistle to make it 3-0.


France

Sh’Nia Gordon

She scored the loan goal for Metz ina 5-1 beating from PSG.

Carlin Hudson

Hudson opened the scoring as Guingamp got the 3-1 win over Marseille.


England

DeAndre Yedlin

The 26-year-old returned for Newcastle in a 0-0 FA Cup draw with Oxford United after being out for two weeks. The replay is next Tuesday at Oxford.

Eric Lichaj

Hull City were eliminated from the FA Cup after a 2-1 loss to Chelsea. The Championship side put up a good effort as the Chelsea goals came by way of a deflection and a set piece. Lichaj played all 90 minutes, dealing with Callum Hudson-Odoi & Cesar Azpilicueta. He picked up a yellow card in the 63rd minute after bringing down Mason Mount with his trailing leg.

Tim Ream

Ream was sent off for Fulham in the 6th minute of a 4-0 FA Cup loss at Manchester City after bringing down Gabriel Jesus in a DOGSO defining play. And I’m not just saying that as a City fan. Don’t @ me.

Matt Miazga

The Reading FC centerback played 66 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Cardiff City. The replay will be next Tuesday at Cardiff, after they take on Cardiff again in league play on Friday. Gooch cooled off from his hot streak and ended up losing possession seven times on the day.

Lynden Gooch

Sunderland were in league play and settled for a 0-0 draw against Doncaster Rovers. Gooch cooled off from his hot streak and ended up losing possession seven times on the day.

Josh Sargent

Sargent got the start and played 66 minutes as Werder Bremen fell 3-0 at home to TSG Hoffenheim. They are sitting in 16th place with 17th points, one point from safety.

Weston McKennie

The 21-year-old made his first appearance for Schalke 04 since December 15th, unfortunately it was against Bayern Munich and Schalke were shut out 5-0. McKennie entered in the 80th minute and only made two touches on the ball. HIGHLIGHTS

RB Leipzig fell 2-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt with Adams playing the first 71 minutes. Ademola Lookman, the guy who replaced him, was credited with the mistake that led to the second goal in stoppage time. Leipzig are still one point clear atop the league after the loss. HIGHLIGHTS
