In short order Sergino Dest went from promising talent to potential world class defender. That rise brought him to Barcelona and with it expectations of making a difference for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Much was made of the number of Americans playing in the Champions League this year as the focus of the whole world and pressure of the tournament is an excellent proving ground ahead of the World Cup.
With Lionel Messi missing against Dynamo Kyiv, Barcelona would need to find goals from another source. After a scoreless first half, Barca finally found the net thanks to Dest.

Not only does Dest score on the play, but he also sprung the pass and followed the play before netting a nice finish. He didn’t exactly nutmeg six players ahead of setting himself up for a bicycle kick, but Dest showed that he fits in well with the Barcelona style on the goal. Undoubtedly, this will be the first of many goals for the talented American.
