Yanks Abroad: Brooks, Holmes, Reyna, and more

A lot of impressive performances from the Americans playing abroad this past weekend.

John Brooks scored a very nice header in a high flying 5-3 Wolfsburg win over Werder Bremen. He scored another goal that wasn’t so nice in the 47th minute. But it was a really unfortunate own goal, to be fair. He also completed the most passes (86) and won the most duels (8) in the match.

The best goal of the weekend came from Duane Holmes, who’s fancy flick looked to be the winner until the 81st minute of Derby County’s 1-1 draw vs Wycomb.

Giovanni Reyna was called on by Borussia Dortmund to bring them back from a 2-0 deficit. He wasn’t able to get them all the way there, but he did record an assist and turn in a very positive performance off the bench. His pressure created a turnover, he moved into space to accept a pass, then dished it off perfectly for the finish.

Over in the third tier of Germany, Terrence Boyd scored both goals in Hallescher’s shutout win. He’s now got six goals through 12 matches.

Andrija Novakovich recorded his second assist of the season (to match his two goals) as Frosinone picked up the 2-1 win in Italy’s Serie B. They’re currently in 5th place, back in the promotion playoff zone again this season. Matthew Olosunde also got his second assist in just his sixth appearance for Rotherham this season. has three tackles in Rotherham’s draw vs Bournemouth, the most in the match.

Konrad de la Fuente played with FC Barcelona B after getting his first team action and he absolutely dominated. Just look at these highlights... wow!

Christian Pulisic returned from injury with a 17 minute shift in Chelsea’s scoreless draw with Tottenham Hotspur. Julian Green almost followed up a goal last week, but hit the post twice and force a save with three shots in Gruether Furth’s 3-2 win over Nurnberg. Richard Ledezma got his first start PSV Eindhoven and played 64 minutes. Check out his highlights here.
