Best of MLS (week 2)

And we're back! With another round of analysis for our MLS players. Ratings taken from FotMob, SofaScore, and WhoScored, and averaged out based on minutes (i.e., if a player gets rated a 6.90 from an 80 minute performance, and a 6.15 from a 15 minute cameo, his average rating will be something like 6.75 or 6.8).

Goalkeepers

Sean Johnson is week 2's top performer, and leap-frogs Luis Robles after Robles stumbled in week 2. Bill Hamid hot on their trail.

Centerbacks

Ike Opara and Matt Besler are reunited atop the CB ratings, knocking Walker Zimmerman off his perch. Matt Hedges keeps his spot, trusty and reliable.

Right backs

See, this is why I wanted Kyle Duncan at Olympic qualifying (it's possible the Red Bulls didn't release him).

Left backs

Left back is not a deep or sexy position for the MLS pool. Hollingshead retakes top spot from Vines this week.

Midfield

And finally, things start to get interesting. Andrés Perea has played with Colombia's U20s, but the defensive mid on loan with Orlando City is also US-eligible. His performance and assist this week shoot him to the top of the ranks, alongside Djordje and Hyndman, just pushing Tanner Tessmann outside the top 3. Brenden Aaronson also sees a huge jump thanks to his performance at LAFC.

Wingers

Interesting that Ethan Finlay is the top-rated US winger, taking the #1 spot above Jordan Morris. In other news, we need some more young wing options.

Strikers

Nice to see Ricardo Pepi joining this list! Zardes stays above Altidore, having scored the only goal between the two of them so far this year. Don't look now, but Pepi's G+A per 90 is frightening compared to the two of them ;)
