The United States Men’s National Team may be preparing for this summer’s CONCACAF Nations League playoffs, but it’s not too early to look towards the next Nations League. The next Nations League likely won’t begin until 2023 due to the schedule for 2022 World Cup qualifying, which begins in September and goes through October 2021. Still, eventually we will see the 2nd Nations League take flight with 12 teams in League A fighting to hoist the Nations League trophy.
The United States will be in League A with the following teams: Mexico, Canada, Panama, Honduras, Martinique, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Grenada, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Suriname. Grenada, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Suriname join League A after winning their groups in the 2019-2020 Nations League B, earning promotion to League A. It’s assumed that from this group, the USA, Mexico, Honduras, and Costa Rica will earn seeds as the teams that made the playoff this time around.
So, the Community Corner question is: which teams would you like to see join the USMNT in a 3-team group in the next version of Nations League? Hit the comments to let us know which opponents you wish to see the USMNT take on!
