True, real-life, actual soccer has returned. SORT OF!

The Bundesliga is back in action in Germany and so are the Yanks Abroad. While there are still a couple injuries to the likes of Zack Steffen & Fabian Johnson, we did get to see some positive performances for the Americans.

Weston McKennie - Central Midfielder, Schalke 04

Starting in his defensive midfielder role, the 21-year-old played 74 minutes in a 3-0 loss at home against Augsburg. He was subbed out with his team down 1-0 in favor of a more attacking minded player, but three minutes later they were down 2-0. The cherry on top was added in stoppage time. McKennie was the most accurate passer to play at least 45 minutes in the match with a 90% success rate. With the packed schedule in the Bundesliga, Schalke play again on Wednesday at Düsseldorf.

Josh Sargent - Striker, Werder Bremen

Bremen got a big 1-0 at 7th place Freiburg (McKennie & Schalke say thanks) with Sargent playing the first 63 minutes at striker. The goal came off a very nice counter attack with Sargent ready for a tap in, although he wasn’t needed. Bremen are still in 17th place, now six points back from climbing out of the relegation zone. Sargent and Co are back in action today (Tuesday) against Gladbach. SARGENT OFF THE BALL MOVEMENT

Tyler Adams - Defensive Midfielder, RB Leipzig

The 21-year-old came off the bench in the 60th minute as Leipzig were thrashing Mainz 05. They’d add another after he came on the pitch for a 5-0 final score. He was able to put in a long, much needed shift in his preferred position of central defensive midfield. It was an encouraging performance, even against a fairly weak opponent. Leipzig take on Hertha Berlin on Wednesday. ADAMS HIGHLIGHTS

John Brooks - Central Defender, Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are in 6th place, the final spot for Europa League Qualifying, after a 2-0 loss at home to Dortmund. Brooks played the full 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card for a pretty ugly tackle after Jadon Sancho had slipped passed him. He was the most accurate passer (95%) to play 45 minutes or more. Wolfsburg face off with Bayer Leverkusen today.
