After several teases, 17-year-old Gio Reyna was finally given his first-ever start in the Bundesliga by Lucien Favre on Saturday. The U.S. international did not disappoint, setting up Dortmund’s first goal against RB Leipzig with a clever first touch pass to set up Erling Haaland. Here’s a look at the deft helper:

Reyna went 81 minutes in his full debut that saw his side defeat Leipzig, 2-0. In addition to his assist, he had a 86% pass completion, one key pass, completed 4 of 5 dribble attempts, and won 10 of 17 duels.
It’s another big step for the promising American talent. While 2020 may go down as one of the weirdest years in soccer history, it will also be known as the year Gio Reyna emerged onto the world stage. We can only patiently wait until he’s able to put his stamp on the USMNT.
