He may have had to leave New York to lead a team to a championship, but Jesse Marsch and RB Salzburg have done just that in the Austrian Bundesliga. Today’s 3-0 win against Hartberg sealed the title for the team. The win is its second trophy, after winning the Austrian Cup earlier in the campaign, and its 7th consecutive Austrian Bundesliga championship in a row.

The title caps off a successful year for the team, in addition to the two trophies, RB Salzburg had a fair showing in the Champions League with two wins against Genk, a draw and loss against Napoli and two losses to Liverpool. The Europa League was somewhat more difficult as the team failed to emerge from the Round of 32 in February.

After the victory, Marsch praised his players and noted that his future will be with the club, saying: “I am staying here and have no plans to go! I’m not finished here, there are plenty of challenges waiting for me and the team, and we want to always play in the Champions League.”

However the Champions League looks, Jesse Marsch certainly has his sights set on making noise in the tournament.
