The transfer action is hot with Weston McKennie moving to Juventus and Sergino Dest still looking like a potential to move out of Ajax. Unfortunately the action on the field isn’t quite so spicy with friendly action supplementing a couple of games from MLS and Liga MX this weekend.
Friday
Borussia Dortmund v Bochum - Noon on ESPN Deportes
If you want to watch some Giovanni Reyna goal scoring action make sure to tune in to the first 15’ or so on Friday afternoon. Reyna has started the last three friendlies for BVB and scored the opening goal in each game which is a pretty fun streak even if it is only preseason. Reyna has had a consistent role for the club though if the team holds to their recent patterns he will come off at the half so tune in early.
Saturday
New England v New York Red Bulls - 8p on FS1
Assuming MLS games move forward this weekend the New England Revolution will face off against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening led by Bruce Arena. If you prefer to watch the players rather than Arena’s smug mug keep an eye on goalkeeper Matt Turner who, armed with a new Lithuanian passport, is reportedly eyeing a move abroad and frankly, has been good enough that he deserves a look regardless of that move. On the NYRB side we have Aaron Long who has also been eyeing a move abroad but has been struggling a bit recently as well.
Other Notes:
- Richie Ledezma has seen some action in friendlies this preseason and might get another chance to play against “grown men” on Saturday when PSV play Hertha Berlin at 11a on ESPN Deportes.
- Ventura Alvarado is still looking to establish himself with Atletico San Luis, he has seen just some appearances off the bench thus far. The team faces America at 8p on ESPN Deportes.
Sunday
Seattle Sounders v Los Angeles Football Club - 10p on FS1
Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan take the field in the weekend finale on Sunday night against LAFC. The Sounders are coming off a 3-0 win over rival Portland which Roldan and Morris both started though neither had a direct role in any of the goals. Meanwhile LAFC are coming off a 2-0 loss at the hands of their rival, the LA Galaxy.
Other Notes:
- Sebastian Saucedo has been appearing inconsistently for Pumas UNAM but did start the club’s last game. They match up with Tijuana at 1p on ESPN Deportes.
