It. Has. Come. Gio Reyna’s first career Bundesliga goal has arrived in Dortmund’s season opener against Borussia Monchengladbach. The young American opened the scoring just before halftime. He becomes the second youngest U.S. player to ever score in Germany’s top flight, exactly 100 days shy of Christian Pulisic’s record.

At 17 years & 311 days, Reyna is the second-youngest American with a Bundesliga goal (Christian Pulisic, 17-211).
The goal itself was very nice. His off the ball run towards the near post was spotted by fellow prodigy Jude Bellingham and Reyna took the pass in stride and finished confidently past the BMG goalkeeper. Here’s a clip:

After being awarded a dubious goal in the DfB Pokal, there will be no debate about this one. His movement and decision-making at such a young age is truly something to behold. Reyna’s rise continues to be swift and undeniable. It should only be a matter of time before we see him doing these types of things on the international level. We can’t wait.
