Just read a report that Pepi officially submitted a transfer request for the January window.
According to the report, Pepi has agreed to personal terms with Wolfsburg, his reps have met with Ajax, and Sampdoria have put in a $8 mil bid. Bayern and unnamed PL clubs are also interested.
I'm interested about these unnamed PL clubs, but I think Ajax is a top option for a young, developing striker. If he can get that Dutch attacking education and score bundles of goals in that league for 2-3 years, I think that would be a nice base. I know the Eredivisie sometimes doesn't have the best track record for translating success to other leagues and the defending is shoddy, but there are still several examples of World Class level talents developing then moving on and being successful elsewhere. Pepi could become more Luis Suarez than Ricky van Wolfswinkel. The Bundesliga is seemingly mostly great for young Americans, but strikers can really blossom in the Netherlands as well. It's more of a specialized breeding ground in that way.
