What a month of March it was for Luca de la Torre. Not only was he making waves in his two dynamic substitute appearances for the USMNT in their friendlies last week, he’s now been honored with a spot in the Eredivisie Team of the Month for his performances with Heracles Almelo.

The 22-year-old won a spot in his side’s starting lineup around mid-January and has since started 10 straight matches. During March, he started all three matches and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle. Not only was it his first Eredivisie goal but it just happened to a stoppage time match-winner.

It’s the 22 year old’s 1st Eredivisie goal. Quietly has had a real solid debut season in the Dutch top flight.

De la Torre opened a lot of eyes around the USMNT world against Jamaica and Northern Ireland. In both friendlies he came onto the field and showed his quality straight away. With some very positive touches he helped push the game forward both as an attacking midfielder and in more of a box-to-box role. He notched an assist against Jamaica and surely made a strong case for more playing time this summer.
