The United States women’s national team will play in three teams in Texas in June as part of their Olympic preparation, taking on Jamaica, Nigeria, and Portugal. Venues are the brand-new Q2 Stadium in Austin and BBVA Stadium in Houston. This is the first time the USWNT has played in Austin. Vlatko Andonovski will name his 18-player Olympic roster after these games. These games will be followed by Olympic sendoff matches in early July, location TBD; it’s probably a good bet here for fans to plan around July 4 weekend.

Summer Series schedule:

June 10 (BBVA, Houston)
Jamaica vs Nigeria, 5:30 PM ET
USA vs Portugal, 8:30 PM ET, FS1

June 13 (BBVA, Houston)
Portugal vs Nigeria, 7 PM ET
USA vs Jamaica , 10 PM ET, FS1

June 16 (Q2, Austin)
USA vs Nigeria, 9 PM ET, ESPN2

USSF’s media release stated their intention to sell tickets to all three games, indicating that fans will be allowed in the stadiums.

This is not strictly a “tournament” style series since the US will play 3 games, once against each opponent, and Portugal and Jamaica will each only play two games. Of note: USSF has announced that as FIFA has changed the international June window from three to two games starting in 2022, they will no longer be able to put on the summer Tournament of Nations.

The United States last played Portugal in 2019 in two friendlies after the World Cup, beating them 4-0 and 3-0. They last played Jamaica in 2018 as part of World Cup qualifying, defeating them 6-0. And they last played Nigeria at the 2015 World Cup, defeating them 1-0 in the group stage.
