The USWNT continued their slate of summer friendlies against a young and talented, but unpolished Jamaica team. After struggling to break down the low block from Portugal in the last match, a new lineup had decidedly less trouble exploiting the Jamaica defense. In the end, first half goals from Carli Lloyd, Lindsey Horan, Midge Purce, and Alex Morgan sealed the win.
Vlatko Andonovski’s lineup included some changes as he looks to get the right personnel dialed in ahead of the Olympics with a re-shuffled XI that only had Christen Press, Lindsey Horan, Rose Lavelle, and Crystal Dunn return from the match against Portugal.

Gifs of goals
The game started out really, really well for the Stars and Stripes. They scored in 20 seconds.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME, CARLI @CarliLloyd has become the oldest player to score in @USWNT history... and it only took 24 seconds pic.twitter.com/xAGxdIFxBU

Despite taking an early lead, the Americans kept playing the typical aggressive brand of soccer. Christen Press was pulled down in the box and Horan stepped up to make it 2-0 in the seventh minute.

The next goal would come as Purce was charging into the box and nobody in a yellow jersey stopped her.

Before the half, Rose Lavelle looked like she took a bad step while dribbling in midfield. She tried to return, but could not continue so Sam Mewis came on in her place. As the half came to the end, the Red, White, and Blobs (seriously, Nike what is this kit?) pushed for a fourth goal, but the score remained 3-0 after 45.
At the half, the team made three subs:

The US kept pushing for goals and created several chances but through ... the scored stayed a 3-0.
Andonovski went to his bench a few times to get some fresh legs into the match.

It seemed like the game was headed to a 3-0 scoreline as injury time approached. Then Alex Morgan decided to score a goal instead:

After another minute, that’d be the final score 4-0 with the USA out ahead of Jamaica.
Thoughts
- You know how Fox has the football robot named Cletus, they need a soccer robot.
- It’s absurd and unfair that the US can go from Crystal Dunn tearing down the field from left back to Lynn Williams tearing down the field from left back.
- Jamaica made things tough in the second half after a nervy starts and kept the WNT
- This was what we want to see out of the USWNT at this point. The team created and scored chances and was tidy in defense.
