It’s a quiet week, but there are 3 Champions League qualifying matches with USMNT implications, plus 10 MLS matchups, a trip to Brazil, and some European friendlies. Gold Cup callups are denoted (GC).

Let’s get into it! Here’s a snapshot of USMNT players in action:

Tuesday

  • Ferencvaros v FC Prishtina, 12p: Champions League qualifying is here, and Henry Wingo got the start for Ferencvaros as they kicked off the first leg at home in Budapest. Ferencvaros exploded with 3 goals from minutes 71 to 78, and won by that same 3-0 scoreline.
  • Tied 0-0 at 60’.

Also in action:

  • Wolfsburg v Erzgebirge Aue, 10a: Former US U17 left back Kobe Hernandez-Foster started at LM for Wolfsburg in their friendly this morning.
  • Vizela v Braga, 12p: Alex Méndez has moved from Ajax to Vizela in Portugal’s top tier, and he already appeared for them in a friendly on Saturday. They have another friendly today.
  • HSC ‘21 v FC Twente, 12:30p: Dutch-American CB Kik Pierie has had his loan from Ajax to Twente extended for the ‘21-’22 season, and could play in Twente’s friendly today.

Wednesday

  • Maccabi Haifa v Kairat Almaty, 1p: Josh Cohen was tied for most clean sheets in Israel’s top tier last year. He and Maccabi Haifa start their Champions League qualifying campaign at home with the first leg against Kairat.
  • Chicago Fire v Orlando City SC, 8p on TUDN, UniMás, fuboTV: All the USMNT interest is on the Orlando side, with Daryl Dike (GC), Chris Mueller, and Andres Perea.
  • Colorado Rapids v Minnesota United, 9p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Sam Vines (GC), Kellyn Acosta (GC), Jonathan Lewis (GC), and Cole Bassett meet up with Hassani Dotson and the Loons.
  • LA Galaxy v FC Dallas, 10:30p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Sebastian Lletget (GC) and Julian Araujo face Ricardo Pepi, Jesus Ferreira, Paxton Pomykal, Justin Che, and rumored-to-be-Venezia-bound Tanner Tessmann.

Also in action:

  • Odense BK v Brøndby IF, 7a: Former Hobro IK teammates Christian Cappis and Emmanuel Sabbi meet in a friendly. Cappis’ move to Brøndby came into effect this summer.
  • Lech Poznan v Midtjylland, 11a: Aron Jóhannsson could feature in this friendly for Lech Poznan.
  • Zenit St. Petersburg v Werder Bremen, 12p: Josh Sargent has already played in one Bremen friendly this offseason, sparking questions about whether he will leave the club or not.
  • Delbrücker SC v PSV Eindhoven, 12p: Richie Ledezma is still recovering from his injury and did not make the trip to Germany with PSV.
  • Malmö FF v Riga FC, 1p: Romain Gall is on loan from Malmö at Örebro SK (in fact, he started for Örebro earlier this week). If Malmö qualifies for the Champions League, Gall could see action when he returns from loan on Jan 1, 2022.
  • New England Revolution v Toronto FC, 7p on ESPN+: Matt Turner (GC) and the Revs face a sputtering Toronto that received a 7-1 shellacking from DC United and fired their coach, Chris Armas.
  • CF Montréal v NYCFC, 7:30p on ESPN+, fuboTV: James Sands (GC) and Sean Johnson (GC) square off with Djordje Mihailovic and Mason Toye.
  • Internacional v Sao Paulo, 8:30p on Paramount+, Fanatiz: Johnny Cardoso has played in 4 straight for Internacional, going all 90’ twice.
  • Seattle Sounders v Houston Dynamo, 9p on ESPN+, Prime Video: Cristian Roldan (GC) and the Sounders battle Memo Rodriguez and Houston.
  • Austin FC v LAFC, 9p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Corey Baird plays for LAFC. That’s about it.
  • Vancouver Whitecaps v Real Salt Lake, 10p on ESPN+: Rubio Rubin and Aaron Herrera could see action for RSL.

Thursday

  • New York Red Bulls v Philadelphia Union, 8p on ESPN+, fuboTV: The Red Bulls will miss Caden Clark due to the appendicitis that kept him out of the Gold Cup, but they still have Kyle Duncan and Frankie Amaya going up against Leon Flach and Philly.
  • Nashville SC v Atlanta United, 8:30p on ESPN+, fuboTV: Walker Zimmerman and Nashville square off with Miles Robinson (GC), Brad Guzan (GC), and George Bello (GC).

Also in action:

  • Casa Pia v SønderjyskE, 6a: Haji Wright will probably not play in this friendly, as it appears he is trying to force a move away from SønderjyskE, after the manager who rated him highly left the club.

That’s it! Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments below. Let’s see who impresses this week!
