The United States and Mexico meet in the Gold Cup final tonight yet again. The two powers of the region took very contrasting approaches to this tournament but still find themselves face to face for all the marbles.

After defeating El Tri in a highly dramatic Nations League final a month ago, Gregg Berhalter made the decision to work on his depth and bring young players and reserves to the Gold Cup. Meanwhile, Tata Martino took the opposite route and called up nearly all of his best players. As you can expect Mexico will be favored win due to the talent discrepancy between the two squads.

That doesn’t mean this young and scrappy U.S. team should be counted out. With goalkeeper Matt Turner having a star-making tournament and a solid back line in front of him there’s no reason the Americans can’t give Mexico all they can handle.

Can the U.S. overcome the odds and shock a nearly fully loaded Mexico team? It’s time to find out.
