USA vs. El Salvador, 2022 World Cup Qualifying: Man of the Match

Well, that was one way to get the 2022 World Cup Qualifying cycle started. The United States Men’s National Team came out of El Salvador with a draw that was neither very convincing nor particularly damaging to their qualification hopes. The voting results of the community really reflect this ho-hum result with just a handful of players who scored over a six.

Matt Turner was officially your SSFC Man of the Match with the highest community ranking coming in at 6.65 and Tyler Adams led the way for field players with a 6.49 ranking. Just three other players scored above a 6.0 while three players scored below a 5.0.

This match was also SSFC’s first foray into ratings for the manager and the official and the results were... basically as expected. Berhalter was the lowest rated individual of anyone involved, though if you remove the 1’s, 2’s and 10’s which seem like scores that would have been entered regardless of the outcome he slides in at a 4.89 which does place him just ahead of Sergino Dest as the lowest rated participant. Still not a ringing endorsement but not as bad as the 4.38 score otherwise. Clearly there are some folks who won’t be happy with Gregg unless he wins us a World Cup (and even then maybe not?) and he’s climbing an uphill battle. The referee meanwhile was about as average as most of our players.
