Soccer: 2016 Copa America Centenario-Ecuador at USA Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

The 2016 Copa America Centenario was an incredible opportunity for the United States Men’s National Team to prove that they belonged among some of the great teams in the world. With CONMEBOL celebrating the 100th anniversary of their regional tournament, U.S. Soccer negotiated a deal that would see their centennial anniversary spent playing in the United States, a 16-team affair that included all 10 CONMEBOL teams and 6 from CONCACAF. The USMNT were the hosts of the tournament, settling in Group A with Colombia, Costa Rica, and Paraguay.

The tournament was one of the better tournaments in memory that has involved the USMNT, with each match action packed and full of goals. 91 goals were scored throughout the competition, an average of 2.84 goals per match. The USMNT were responsible for 7 of them, including a 4-goal outburst against Costa Rica.

Still, not all the great goals came from the feet of Americans. Some of the best teams and players in the world participated in the Copa America Centenario, and it provided fans with an incredible summer of soccer. The USMNT finished in 4th place, beating Costa Rica, Paraguay, and Ecuador on their way to the semifinals. Their losses came to Colombia (twice) and Argentina. Check out all the goals that took place in the tournament, from teams and players you like to those you hate. Which one was your favorite?
