Brad Davis has been removed from the United States' Gold Cup roster. The surprise inclusion on the team to begin with suffered a knee injury that will keep him from the tournament.
Jurgen Klinsmann must now name a replacement for Davis, and it looks like it will be Greg Garza. The left back has been called up for Friday's pre-Gold Cup friendly against Guatemala and while he has yet to be added to the Gold Cup roster, that appears to be the direction that Klinsmann is going.
With Garza in the team, he could slot in at left back and Fabian Johnson could be pushed into the midfield. The versatility of Johnson would pay off once again and make for a dynamic left side of the pitch for the U.S. Garza would also become cap-tied to the U.S., something that has yet to happen and technically leaves the door open for him to switch to Mexico.
